Local Beaches

This is the view from the "Grande Rocher " only a 10 minute walk from Coat Aillis through the woods. To the left can be seen the beach at St Efflam with its sailing school for sand and sea yachts, kite and sail boards and kayaks. In the distance the quay of "Beg Deuer" can be seen with the moorings for up to 50 boats

The beach of "St Michel en Greve" can be seen with the Hotel Plage on the sea front with children's swings and climbing frames. In the distance the fishing village Locquimeau can be seen, then the bay of Lannion and in the far distance Treburden.

Beaches within a 15 minutes drive:

"Toul Henry" is the old port for Plestin les Greves but is very tidal so only can be used for a few hours at high tide and most of the boats for Plestin are moored at "Beg Deuer " between the mooring is the "Corniche" a peninsular with 4 sandy beaches and an interesting ruins of an ancient roman villa.

This is about 5-10 minutes from Coat Aillis by car. A good site for more information on Plestin les Greves "Bro Plistin" not only does it have more photos but gives details of the history ,cultural events and daily life of Plestin (and its all in french).

Locquirec:

Just a 10 minute drive from Coat Aillis is Locquirec a very pretty seaside village with 2 beaches ,one at the port is a sun trap people even sunbath in November the other beach is more open. If the Caplan Bar is for the bohemian then Locquirec is a village for everybody.

It has a children's club on the port beach, kayak/sail boat hire for the more adventurist the larger bay is good for body boarding and rock pooling. The little port shelters the berths to at least 50 leisure/fishing boats. It has many retaurants and bars with the up market "Le Grand Hotel des Bains " with its own spa and swimming pool set on the sea edge.

Sables Blanc:

"Sables Blanc" is located just a short walk from Locquirec going west its one of the best beachs for body boarding due to its angle in relation to the Atlantic. Its not very developed with some interesting houses overlooking the beach a very large wooden house and just to right is a futurist circular wooden house which resembles a spaceship (they make them at Lamballe).

Another short walk along the coast takes you to the beach of "Moulin des Rive". This is the real surfers beach where my boys go and try and stand on their boards. They get some reasonable swell and the shape of the beach makes the waves break.
